FAA imposed no-fly zone over Exxon tar sands oil spill site

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a no-fly zone over the site of the ExxonMobil Pegasus pipeline disaster in Mayflower, Arkansas. ExxonMobil’s Pegasus tar sands oil pipeline ruptured last Friday and spilled more than 318,000 litres of tar sands oil into a local neighborhood, drainage system and lake.
22 homes had to be evacuated.
The restriction went into effect Monday and will remain in place “until further notice”, according to this FAA website posting.

This video, released by 350.org and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and based on research by Oil Change International, reminds us, again, how TransCanada’s proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will hurt the environment and the future. And why we must continue to fight against the approval of the pipeline.
The video features these four experts: Dr. John Abraham, an associate professor at the University of St. Thomas; Dr. Danny Harvey, a professor at the University of Toronto; Nathan Lemphers, a senior policy analyst with the Pembina Institute and Lorne Stockman, Research Director for Oil Change International.
