alberta-tar-sands1.jpgThe U.S. government lied to the American people – and the rest of us – about that Keystone XL tar sands pipeline assessment. The State Department’s Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) report on the proposed 875-mile long pipeline, which would ship up to 830,000 barrels of Canada‘s dirty tar sands oil per day from Alberta to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast, was not prepared by a neutral government official.

New York Times urges Obama to reject Keystone XL pipeline

US President Barack Obama should reject TransCanada Corp’s Keystone XL dirty tar sands pipeline, The New York Times boldly declared in an editorial published last week. Reminding us that Obama pledged that “if Congress won’t act soon to protect future generations, I will”, the influential newspaper declared that it’s time for the president to say no to the pipeline.
